Darsonval

Darsonval is a non-invasive electrotherapy method that applies high-frequency, low-intensity electrical current to the scalp. During the procedure, a special glass electrode is moved over the scalp. The electrical stimulation produces a local stimulating effect on the skin surface and may cause temporary changes in blood circulation. Darsonval may be used as an adjunct procedure in scalp care programs. However, high-quality clinical evidence supporting its effectiveness in treating hair loss is limited. Darsonval stimulates the superficial tissues of the skin through high-frequency electrical exposure. This effect may temporarily influence local blood circulation. However, sustained improvement in microcirculation, activation of hair follicles, and acceleration of hair growth have not been sufficiently established by scientific evidence. Because the causes of hair loss vary, Darsonval is not considered a standalone treatment method. The procedure may only be included as an adjunct method in a comprehensive trichology care program after an individual assessment.

  • For additional aesthetic scalp care
  • For superficial electrical stimulation of the scalp
  • As an adjunct care method for hair loss and thinning that does not replace primary treatment

How is the procedure performed?

At the first stage, the condition of the scalp is assessed and possible contraindications to the procedure are checked. A suitable glass electrode is then selected and moved over clean, dry scalp in accordance with the device instructions. The intensity of the electrical stimulation is adjusted based on individual sensitivity and the technical characteristics of the device. The procedure does not require needles or injections.

  • Non-invasive application: no needles or injections are used.
  • High-frequency electrical stimulation: produces a local stimulating effect on the surface of the scalp.
  • Individual intensity: the level of electrical stimulation is selected according to the device capabilities and the patient’s sensitivity.
  • Adjunct care: when appropriate, it may be combined with other trichology care methods.

Darsonval is used to create a local stimulating effect on the scalp. After the procedure, temporary warmth, mild redness, or a tingling sensation similar to “pins and needles” may occur. It has not been reliably established by scientific evidence that Darsonval stops hair loss, promotes new hair growth, or increases hair density. In cases of hair loss and thinning, the main goal is to identify the underlying cause and develop an individualized treatment plan based on scientific evidence.
